Name: Tiffany Lue-Yen
Age: 22
School Background: The Art Institute Of Fort Lauderdale
How and at what age did you start taking photographs and who/what inspired you to do so?
I started as early as the age of 10. I received my first disposable camera as a gift, It was purple LOL. My real interest for photography began when I was thirteen. I was one of those boy band crazy teenagers who collected posters and plastered my wall with images. My interest grew from there and I realized that I wanted to learn more about photography and be able to capture the amazing pictures that I would see in magazines, books etc. The inspiration was fueled by family and friends. The only person in particular who was involved with photography, was my friends’ father, Cecil Ward, another talented fine art photographer based in Jamaica. He really encouraged me in my early stages and continues to do so to this day.
Has your family always been supportive of your career as a Photographer?
Yes, they have been the biggest supporters of my career. My father especially, was the person who put me through art school where I Iearnt in depth about photography. This was the real stepping stone in making this a definite career choice.
How did you get into the photography business?
After college I took on several jobs in the photography field, one working as a portrait photographer for various schools and the other as an image retoucher at another portrait studio. Coincidentally named Tiffany’s. The experience I gained from both those jobs really gave me the confidence to know that I was capable on doing this on my own. From there I moved back to Jamaica where my Aunt set me up with me first wedding. I was nineteen at the time.
What is your most favored aspect of photography?
The travelling and meeting interesting people. I’ve learnt so much from the individuals I have met. Some who I have become close friends with.
What are your photographs inspired by?
By beauty, inside and out. Sound cliche I know, but it’s how I feel about the world. There is so much good that goes unrecognized.
How has the public been reacting to your Photos?
People seem to like it. I’ve gotten responses from persons saying that they feel happy after looking at my photographs. That makes me feel great because I wasn’t even aware people were having feelings to begin with. I think I’m doing something right

What’s you’re biggest accomplishment? (as it relates to photography)
Having an article about me published in the Observers’ TEENAGE. I received many phone calls and e-mails of congratulations from persons I didn’t even know! That was such a turning point because I was publicly expressing my individuality. To have such a positive response was a really amazing feeling.
What are your other passions?
Helping others as much as I can. I take on a lot of responsibility but I strongly believe that it starts with one person to make a difference. On a lighter note, singing is another passion. I am a karaoke fiene!
If you weren’t a photographer what would you be doing?
Selling goods at a wholesale Downtown… Kidding, not that I wouldn’t do that (im sure you would Tif lol) but I think I would be a video director, make-up artist, interior decorator. Something that allows to me to be creative.
What’s your favorite camera brand(s)?
Canon. Sorry Nikon lovers.
Who are some of your favorite photographers?
William Richards. Another local photographer who I assist. He has been a huge inspiration in regards to my photography career and life. Other photographers are Mario Testino, David La Chapelle, the list continues. There are many other persons that I don’t know by name but admire their work.
Are there any plans of promotions or public campaigns in the future?
There are no immediate plans at the moment. However I do plan to own my own studio and possibly have a gallery event on personal pieces I will be working on for years to come.
Where do you see Tiffany Lue-Yen Photography in the next 5 years?
Tiffany Lue-Yen Photography will be a successful business catering to ALL photographic needs. However, I won’t be limiting myself to photography alone but also to videography, graphic design etc. I can’t speak too much of my plans yet, these are goals that I am setting
